So I recently watched this movie. Wow i have so much to say about this MASTERPIECE!!
Synopsis:
The story is set around a young girl named Maggie Fitzgerald, who persists in wanting to compete in professional boxing. Prior to her successful career in sports, Maggie worked as a waitress in her home town of Missouri Ozarks and made a daily appearance to a gym owned by former trainer/manager Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) to persuade him to train someone who's both female and too old to begin a career. With Dunn's experience and Maggie's talent and determination, the boxer finds herself on track to be the first female to win one million dollars in prize money but what lies ahead, what will happen in the match?
I never knew a boxing movie would make me cry. Clint Eastwood is a Genius. Its a very simple, realistic and unique story, stated in such a heart touching way. Super Performances by Hilary swank & Morgan. The story shows the unknown side of boxing that needs more light shined onto it.
The first half of the movie is mainly story building the second half is where the climax makes the movie the best ever. It shows the movie would have gone or been like any other Sports movie if it was not handled smartly.
Moments that warmed my heart- The relationship between Maggie and her coach. He calls her my darling,my blood & my pulse in a paternal sense & look after her like his own baby. Both are loner. The climax of the film brings lump in my throat The only good memories she had were with her dad and the only person truly care for her is her coach. Their relationship warmed my heart and obviously made me cry buckets.
This movie is so inspirational- Maggie was such a beautiful character. Maggie was a character who considered herself trash. But she believed in her dream to be a boxer despite being told she can't be one. She made Frankie her coach by her persistence to be trained by him only. She trained for boxing, did part time job to save every penny to buy boxing gears. She was awesome!
This is an incredible story, top class performances, extremely heart breaking but practical end. One of the Best of Hollywood. A MUST WATCH! And keep some tissues with you.
